28th March ’17: Faded stripes & buttons

Happy Tuesday, folks.
Ok, time for a blast of my favourite colours – faded ones. This little hoard of objects adorn Colour File HQ and fill me with warm and fuzzy delight on a daily basis. I had this card of polyester buttons framed after discovering them at a car boot sale. I love the fact there are buttons missing – I try to imagine what colours should be there and I fancy that the salesman who touted them around may have snipped one or two off for a favourite client. Part of its beauty is its yellowed imperfection: that’s what gives it character and a life of it’s own that predates me being its custodian.
The fabric at the bottom is an old blanket I bought in Cuzco #Peru when I did my midlife crisis Inca Trail trek. It is yellowed from years of use but the colours have somehow remained deep and rich. Vibrantly faded, if that isn’t an oxymoron? And finally my @penguinclassics. Ah, my Penguin Classics ❤️❤️😍. What’s not to love? I’m currently after one in lemon yellow so if you happen to know of one looking to join a merry band of fellow vintage Penguin tomes, do let me know. I can assure you it’ll have a very happy and meaningful life. Over and out, lovely Colour Filers.
