29th March ’17: Beautiful rubbish

So here we are at Wednesday againย ๐Ÿ™๐ŸŒบ๐ŸฆŠ๐Ÿฆ๐Ÿฅ๐Ÿธ๐Ÿฆ‹๐Ÿ‘•๐Ÿ‘พโ˜‚๏ธ
The longer days are, very strangely, making the weeks slip by and (like many of you, I’m sure) I’m starting to think just a TEENY bit about summer. Summer and rubbish, to be precise. For the past couple of years, since discovering the supreme work of @smartie_lids_on_the_beach @not_in_new_york @emma_b_oakeley and @mcphersonsteve I have looked forward with child-like glee to trips to the seaside, primarily to pick up as much colourful litter as my capacious pockets will allow (cardigans and coats without pockets simply don’t work for The Colour File ‘on tour’…). Ever heard of the satin bowerbird that collects bright blue plastic rubbish to line its nest? Well, that’s me, only I don’t limit myself to just blue. I now have an extensive and pleasing collection of small multicoloured plastic rubbish bits and pieces sourced from France, Devon and Cornwall, collected by me and my trusty second-in-command @marinefighter999 (seen here in the second pic, happy to have found a makeshift Frisbee amongst the flotsam) and my plan has always been to make it into a picture. Trouble is, I love playing with the colours, shapes and patterns so much that I can never commit to gluing the pieces down. It all seems too permanent. In the meantime, until I muster up the courage to brandish the glue gun, here is what I put together last night. I hope you like it. Have a lovely day, lovely people.
