30th September '17: Purple love & hate

Hello Colour Filers πŸ‘ΎπŸ•ΊπŸ»πŸ’…πŸ»πŸ‘ΏπŸ€³πŸ»πŸ‘©πŸ»β€πŸŽ€
The day I launched The Colour File, I posted a picture of me blowing out the candles on my purple-iced 3rd birthday cake. When it comes to colour, purple was most definitely my first crush – maybe even my first true love. Apparently purple passion is a girl thing. On 1st August, I spoke about a study that found that women use many more descriptions for colours than men (the top right pic reminded me of this). As well as finding that women had six different names to describe distinctive colours that men simply called ‘purple’, the same study also found that 23 per cent of women named purple as their favourite colour compared to precisely zero men. In fact, 22 per cent of men even said it was their LEAST favourite colour. I wonder if a couple has ever split over purple? I can understand why: these things matter. A LOT. Squabbling about how you load the dishwasher or who’s going to sort the recycling may cause domestic angst but, well, it’s nothing compared to this. Anyway, have a great day, try not to fall out over colour and I’ll catch you later.
