10 January 18: Chocolate (& other) teapots

Hello, folks.

How much do you love sayings? One of my favourite things is to take Brewer’s Phrase & Fable off the shelf, shut my eyes and pick an entry at random (honestly, try it: it’s a proper education).

One of our favourite phrases in the UK (on account of the fact we have tea rather than blood running through our veins) is about something being ‘as much use as a chocolate teapot’.

But in 2008, curious & finicky scientists showed that a chocolate teapot can, in fact, be used to make tea, as long as the walls are more than 1cm thick. Bang goes that phrase, then. Next!
