16 January 18: Colour-collecting hazards

Being a colour-lover can be a hazardous pursuit.

Colour isn’t only to be discovered in safe and expected places. In fact, some of the best colour finds come with a physical challenge. Take these road markings in central London and Bordeaux, for example.

I had to wait for scores of cyclists and motorists to speed by before I got my snaps (or risk being knocked off my feet). As for the floor strip at King’s Cross Tube station, i ran the gauntlet of impatient commuters tutting when I suddenly stopped to take a photo of the ground.

It’s hardly daredevil stuff, but a bit of a challenge makes it all the more delicious when a pic works out.
