21 December 17: Fairy pink armadillo

I’ve recently discovered a new favourite animal. It’s miniature, it’s cute and – joy of joys – it has a colourful name: it’s the pink fairy armadillo. Around 10 cm in length, these curious little cutie pies have soft, transparent pink shells. Apparently they get their colour from blood vessels close to their surface which help them to regulate their body temperature. Experts say spotting a pink fairy armadillo – known to be stressed by human interaction – is a rare and precious thing. I wonder if clapping eyes on actual fairies is easier than seeing this!!
