6 January 18: The green roofed house

How’s your weekend going?

I’m still in the middle of BookLand (a theme park of sorts but with no ghost trains, just looming deadlines grabbing at my brain šŸ˜).

As part of the process, I’ve become reacquainted today with some pictures that came from an old family artist friend. Miss Reis (as we knew her) painted them after she escaped from Germany as war broke out (all pics by her, except bottom right, and including a self-portrait, bottom left).

I love them and have given a couple of them a little makeover by painting the frames with deliciousĀ @littlegreenepaintcompany#YellowPinkĀ andĀ #Hortense. I hope the redoubtable Miss Reis would have approved.

She furnished me with one of my earliest colour memories in the form of a comment. When looking at the estate agent details for a property she was thinking of buying, she announced: ‘I couldn’t possibly live there: it has a green roof!’ Bang! And there you have it. It was off the list.

Catch you tomorrow, my lovely chums.
