9 January 18: Art deco green and pink

I have this thing about Art Deco.

I think it’s from studying in Brighton, cheek by jowl with Saltdean Lido, the flaking but majestic Embassy Court and that small but perfectly formed Deco bus stop in the Old Steine.

I love Art Deco colours, too, especially soothing eau-de-nil and pale pink (like on my favourite jug, bottom left).

I recently read that philosopher Rudolph Steiner said that children should be surrounded by pastel colours until the age of three to keep them calm. Time to bin the primaries (is that the collective sound of parents clapping that I hear?…).

Have a great day.
