2 April 18: The origins of ‘green’

Do you ever wonder where the names of colours hail from?

A version of ‘green’ is thought to have existed from around 4 B.C in the form of ‘ghre’. In Old English (circa 4 A.D) it meant the colour as well as young and immature (as it still does today). I love the idea of ancient colour-lovers coming up with colour meanings. I wonder if colour-love gets passed along in the DNA?
