There are so many reasons I love New York, many of them visual and sensory.
It was the first place I realised how intense and heart-stoppingly powerful love at first sight could be (not mine: Romeo and Juliet’s, through a fish tank*). It’s also an intensely gestalt city for me – shadows and dark spaces skulking behind trees and pooling broodily underneath skyscrapers and celestial blue skies. Adore beyond the beyond.
