The story of Stib colouring pencils

As a bit of a swot, I always quite liked the start of a new academic year.

Covering exercise books with wrapping paper, sniffing new text books (it’s still the first thing I do before I buy a new book – does it SMELL right?) and, of course, buying new stationery.

I may not be a student right now but that doesn’t stop me acquiring new colouring pencils with an excitement that takes me back to being eight again.

I’ve decided that this September, the Stib pencil @stib_ltd takes centre stage. As well as 10 per cent of the profits going to charity, each coloured pencil is embossed with a positive and inspiring characteristic, namely (and I’m going to name them all because they’re so cool)

  • Good Listener
  • Self Believer
  • Peacekeeper
  • Freestyler
  • World Changer
  • Earth Lover
  • Joy Finder
  • Big Thinker
  • Storyteller
  • Team player
  • Great Leader

They make me think a little of ‘The Day The Crayons Quit’ where each colour has a personality.

The idea behind these words is that they aren’t a set of rules but a way of inspiring young minds to think about the world differently.

‘Our children can’t all be problem solvers, big thinkers or joy finders every minute of every day, but when they meet a tricky situation, it’s worth remembering what makes them pretty special in the first place and to give new behaviours a try,’ says Emily and the Stib team.

Aren’t they gorgeous? And I reckon I’m going to have a whole lot of fun with them: choosing s colour a day and being that characteristic, for example (I’m going to be channeling purple & self believer today).
