I am in awe of people who can paint.
I remember on my honeymoon I tried to paint an elephant and it was so bad that I didn’t think my then husband would ever stop laughing (it was definitely of the ‘naive’ variety and it was pink, as I recall). At Cliveden last week, I met someone who has no such problems on the painting front: the talented @emilybuchananpaintings Emily is perhaps best known for painting the 2014 Christmas card for the White House, complete with the Obamas’ dogs, Bo and Sunny. However, I met her as she was capturing in oils the sublime view over the sun-drenched landscaped gardens at Cliveden. It’s always such a privilege to see a a painter like Emily at work, as they pour their concentration, their thoughts and the very essence of themselves into what they are creating. I’m convinced that the very best creative projects keep a little bit of the artist for themselves, deep within them. Have a great day.
