31 October 18: Halloween orange

Happy Halloween, guys 🎃

I love colour symbolism, and so I love Halloween as an example of how colours alone can conjure up a time of year. Where pastels belong to Easter and red and green to Christmas, orange, black and lime green (with a touch of purple) belong to Halloween. And just as trends in fashion come and go, in the run-up to 31st October you’re hard pressed to clock anything but these colours in shops, then on 1st November it’s like it never happened and we’re on the Christmas trail. So potent is the power of colour that this shelfie I did last night doesn’t contain any seasonal paraphernalia and yet, because of today’s date, it still makes me think of Halloween. Have a great day.
