The story of green malachite dye

I mentioned some time back how I searched tirelessly for a decade for the perfect coffee table.

I eventually found it on @etsyuk and travelled half way up the British Isles to fetch it. I also collected this pedestal table while I was at it and I don’t think I’ll ever tire of the historical patina of its delicious malachite green paint.

Imagine all the stories embedded in those layers?

Today I read about malachite dye, which is the stuff that’s apparently used to catch thieves and pilferers.

Like something out of an Agatha Christie novel, the malachite green powder is sprinkled over the bait and anyone who touches it will have a green stain on their skin for days.
