Shelfie tip: ‘same on same’ colour

One of my favourite interiors techniques is putting ‘same against same’ colours on  my shelfies. In fact, I talk about it in ‘Shelfie’ in the chapter on ‘Colour’.

It makes me think of ha-has, used in gardens as a device to build a wall without it being seen (it was put in a ditch so you couldn’t see it from the house, which was amusing, hence ha-ha).

Same against same is a brilliant way to build up texture and colour, hiding and disguising objects and creating interest layer upon layer (I’ve seen this lots in various SS19 Press shows lately including @marksandspencerhomepr@oliverbonas @argoshome and Tesco).

If you don’t know where to begin with shelfies then same on same is a great place to start.
