5 February 19: Thoughts on the ‘fifth wall’?

Three months after painting my bedroom with Spiced Honey @duluxuk I’m still completely in love with it (seen here in my bedroom with cushions by the fantabulous @sarahfortescuedesigns).

It really does feel like a warm hug in a cosy snug (and there was me thinking I couldn’t write poetry). Yesterday, Dulux announced that its Colour of the Year 2019 Ambassador is Fearne Cotton, who has also fallen head-over-heels for this unexpected beauty. She describes it as a ‘very optimistic colour’ that brings hope and cheer.

And of course it comes with the added bonus for Ferne of having an extra-special name: ‘My daughter is called Honey and I chose it because it has gorgeous and sensory connotations,’ she says.

I’m fascinated by Ferne’s suggestion for painting her ‘fifth wall’ (ie the ceiling) in Spiced Honey (‘I love the idea of lying in bed and allowing the power of the colour to wash over me,’ she says). I’m loving that suggestion, too. Total Spiced Honey immersion. Maybe that’s where the fifth ceilings of Colour File HQ are heading.

What are your thoughts on colour on the ‘fifth wall’?
