The secret lives of colourful pottery

Often happiness lies in the simplest things – like the unmatchy matchness of three little plants and the stories embedded in the scene.

I love the vessels they’re sitting in – the Poole pots (they have lids – are they for honey or possibly jam?) and the little one in the middle, which really intrigues me. I’ve never seen any other items in this pattern so I let my thoughts run wild as to its provenance.

I imagine it may once have been a mustard pot in a big dinner service, being passed along with great formality until one day the pattern was no longer in vogue so the little pieces were sent to the nursery to play ‘Let’s be grown-ups’ with.

Do any of your objects possess a fantastical history?
